Our Story

GiantScalePlanes.com was founded in 2014 by lifelong RC enthusiasts Mike Anderson and Sarah Thompson. What started as a small blog documenting their own giant scale builds quickly grew into a trusted resource for hobbyists around the world who share a passion for large-format RC planes — from Warbirds and Extras to giant scale gliders and turbine jets.

Mike, a former aerospace machinist, brought his technical know-how to the table, while Sarah, a graphic designer and competitive RC pilot, focused on making the content approachable for newcomers and veterans alike. Together, they built GiantScalePlanes.com into a full-fledged community hub rather than just another product review site.

  • James Whitfield – Senior Contributor: A retired airline mechanic who focuses on engine tuning and power system deep-dives.
  • Priya Ramaswamy – Community Manager: Runs our forums and social channels, connecting flyers and clubs across the country.
  • Derek Holt – Video Producer: Creates the build videos and flight footage featured throughout the site.
